Mounting Pressure on Hamas

Badr Abdelatty stated that the opportunity is now for the organization to disarm and avoid providing Israel any pretext to continue its offensive in the region, where numerous civilians were killed on recently.

“We must avoid providing any justification for ongoing civilian casualties, which have escalated far beyond the events of October 7th,” Abdelatty remarked.

He explained that Cairo is “working alongside Qatar and Turkey to encourage Hamas to accept the proposal”.

Key Points of the US Initiative

This proposal would require the group to:

• Surrender weapons and withdraw from political activities
• Hand over the captives in custody from the 2023 attack, including two dozen are presumed to be still alive

As part of the deal, Israel would:

• Phase out its military from Gaza
• Be replaced by an multinational troops
• Support a temporary government led by Trump

Internal Divisions within the Faction

Humanitarian Crisis Intensifies

Israel carried on its military actions in Gaza City and airstrikes across the region on the recent day, fatally striking two dozen individuals.

Nearly a dozen of the casualties were in the northern city, while the others perished in the south, with three in an aerial attack in al-Masawi, which had been previously designated a secure area.

The Israeli military issued its ultimate directive for Gaza City on earlier this week, with the top defense official declaring that individuals left would be deemed affiliated with armed groups, a designation that defies international law.

Hundreds of thousands of people remain unable to leave in the city, many of whom who are unable to pay for the trip to the south, which reportedly costs over a thousand dollars.

“Many people are left to sleep along the roads until they can find shelter,” commented a Red Cross spokesperson.

The UN reported that there is no protected area for evacuees from Gaza City, as areas designated as secure areas in the south are lethal.

A UN official described the concept of protected spaces as “absurd”, stating that bombs are used with “chilling predictability” and shelters designated as refuges are regularly reduced to rubble.

Medical Services under Severe Strain

Hospitals in the south are overwhelmed, with the medical unit treating over twice its intended capacity.

On Thursday, a major medical facility admitted 27 bodies of people killed by the troops.

A senior doctor characterized the situation as “very hard”.

Israeli forces has been accused of targeting healthcare facilities and staff, with healthcare professional said to be taken while traveling to work in a southern city.

Israel has asserted that apprehended doctors had ties to the group, though lacking proof.

The overall death toll from the conflict in Gaza has climbed to at least 62,622 Palestinians dead and nearly 170,000 injured, as reported by the medical sources.
